Sóller, Mallorca · Since 1900
La Luna Sobrassada Museum in Sóller.
A tradition you can visit.
What you will see
A factory that never threw anything away.
Sobrassada is more than a souvenir. It is the memory of a house that has cured it the same way for more than a century.
When the factory had to be modernised in the 1980s, Bartolomé Frau did not get rid of the old machinery. He could not bring himself to throw away something that had worked for so many years. He kept it, along with the delivery notes, the letters and the tools. That storeroom of memories is now this museum, in the same building where sobrassada is still made every morning.

The tour, step by step.

I
The 1900 workshop.
The scales, mincers and mixer in their original places, still driven by the same pulley system.

II
The traditional pig slaughter corner.
With the slaughter table, the washing tub and the hand-cranked sausage stuffer.

III
The export room.
The map of destinations and the machine that vacuum-sealed the tins shipped to Cuba and Puerto Rico.

IV
The carpentry workshop.
Where the shipping crates were made, from pine log to a crate stamped with the customer's initials.

V
The old drying room.
With wooden racks eighty or ninety years old, of a kind current regulations no longer allow.

VI
Letters and documents.
The company's papers from the 1940s to the 1960s.

Our story
A family legacy.
In 1900, José Aguiló Pomar was making his own charcuterie in a small butcher's shop on Calle de la Luna, in Sóller. The brand takes its name from that street. His company, Embutidos Aguiló, was the first in Mallorca dedicated to making sobrassada.
